Daniel Ibri

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Daniel Ibri is co-founder and managing partner at Mindset Ventures. He has more than 10 years of experience as a venture capitalist, angel investor, international management consultant, M&A advisor and mentor for startups. Over the past decade, Daniel has led strategic planning, financial structuring, turnaround and M&A projects for SMEs in Brazil and mentored dozens of startups from across Brazil, the USA, and Europe. Daniel founded and managed GRID Investments, a successful Seed and Venture Capital Firm in Brazil, awarded in 2014 as Best VC Fund Manager by Microsoft / Spark Awards, and, afterward, worked as the CEO of Acelera Partners. Daniel also worked as a professor for several Brazilian companies and universities.

Currently, Daniel is a mentor at Endeavor Brazil, Artemisia, ACE and Lisbon-Challenge, member of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Seed Capital Committee (CEICS-VC) of the Brazilian Association for Private Equity & Venture Capital (ABVCAP) and professor of entrepreneurship and finance courses at Insper.

Daniel holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from FGV-EAESP (São Paulo, Brazil) and an MBA in Business Strategy and specialization in Venture Capital from University of California, Berkeley. He has also completed several postgraduate and executive courses in universities such as the Rotman School of Management, Babson College, Harvard University, the University of Texas in Austin, FGV-EDESP (Law School), FIA-USP and Insper University.

Camila Folkmann

Co-Founder & Managing Partner

Camila Folkmann is co-founder and managing partner at Mindset Ventures. With more than 10 years of experience in working with big corporations, financial institutions, funds, and startups, Camila started her career as a corporate lawyer, having worked for major law firms assisting Fortune 500 clients in M&A, debt restructurings, judicial reorganizations and other corporate matters.

After developing a new set of business skills at the University of California, Berkeley (Global Business Management; Venture Capital), Stanford University (Communication) and UCSC Extension (Computer Programming), she had her own Silicon Valley experience by working at two different startups in the Bay Area – Cheapest Online and HandsOn.TV. At HandsOn.TV, Camila was the Head of Operations and Strategic Partnerships, assisting the marketing team and organizing the two editions of the startup competition “Pitch It”. A few years later, and before founding Mindset Ventures, Camila joined Acelera Partners in Brazil as the company’s Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.

As one of the first Brazilian female founders of a Venture Capital firm, she also supports diversity initiatives, being part of the group “Venture Women Brazil”.

Nemer Rahal

Managing Partner

Nemer Rahal is a senior executive with around 30 years of experience in the financial and investment markets. His prosperous career includes senior roles in prestigious institutions such as JP Morgan Chase and Patria Investments – a Brazilian leading alternative investments firm – where he worked as the partner responsible for Sales & Investor Relations for several years.

Since 2017, Nemer has remained thoroughly engaged in the venture capital market by acting as an angel investor and mentor for selected startups and more recently as a Managing Partner at Mindset Ventures. Additionally, he has engaged in initiatives in the impact economy market, including ForFuturing, a boutique consulting firm. Nemer holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an MBA from Insead, besides a Certificate in Corporate Innovation from Stanford University and in Venture Capital from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.

Boaz Albaranes

Partner

Boaz Albaranes is a partner at Mindset Ventures based out of Tel Aviv. He has more than 10 years of experience in international relations, technology, and entrepreneurship. Prior to joining Mindset, Boaz was the Israeli Economic Consul in Brazil and headed the Israeli Trade & Investments mission in São Paulo where he brought companies and investors from both countries to do business together. One of the main aspects of his job was to match Israeli tech companies with large national Brazilian companies in which he conducted many scouting projects for the latter. During his time in Brazil, Boaz was a mentor in various startups and acceleration programs such as IBM Bootcamp, Oracle Accelerator, Startup Farm, and more.

Previous to his role in Brazil, Boaz has held a few positions within the Israeli Ministry of Economy, such as that of a Project Lead in the Israeli Investment Promotion Center, Cadet in the Foreign Trade Administration, and Project Manager at Israel Newtech – the national program promoting the cleantech sector. Before joining the government, Boaz has worked as an Algorithm Developer in an Israeli startup company and has also co-founded and managed the website Jewgether.org.

Boaz holds a BSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA, both from Technion – Israel’s Institute of Technology.

Jules Miller

Partner

Jules is an experienced investor, 3-time entrepreneur, corporate innovation leader and ‘intrapreneur.’ Prior to joining Mindset she was an executive at IBM, where she co-founded IBM Blockchain Ventures, launched and ran the IBM Blockchain Accelerator, and led the IBM Blockchain Garage for North America. Prior to that she was a partner at LunaCap Ventures, a venture debt fund investing in diverse founders, and was COO of gender lens investing pioneer BRAVA Investments. Jules co-founded and led two legal tech companies: Evolve Law (acquired by Breaking Media), a digital media and events company for legal innovators, and Hire an Esquire, a venture-backed SaaS enabled marketplace startup providing attorneys on-demand to law firms and in-house legal teams. She also founded Carbonado Group, an environmental sustainability consulting firm, and spent 7 years as an ‘intraprenuer’ helping companies including EY, Salesforce.com and Tiffany & Co. to launch and grow new business units around environmental and social responsibility. Jules earned her BA from UCLA and her MSc from The London School of Economics. She is a Kauffman Fellow (Class 22), frequent keynote speaker, and co-author of The Corporate Accelerator (Wiley, 2020).

André Zogbi

Investor Relations

André Zogbi has 6 years of experience in the financial market, with emphasis in private equity and investor relations. He started his career working with investment banking for Brazil Plural, a medium size Brazilian bank, and thereafter joined Patria Investments’ Investor Relations team to support the Real Estate and Agribusiness departments. After a short experience as an investment advisor at XP Investments, the largest Latin American broker, André was hired by DNA Capital, a Brazilian private equity fund, to manage the operation of one of its invested companies, where he worked as CFO and interim CEO before joining Mindset in May 2020. André holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from FGV-EAESP.

Pedro Mesquita

Analyst

Pedro Mesquita is an Investment Analyst at Mindset Ventures. He joined the firm in 2018 and has been actively contributing to the firm’s growth. He is currently responsible for supporting deal flow analysis from both U.S. and Israel.

Pedro holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from FGV-EAESP (São Paulo, Brazil). While in University, he participated in several student groups and in FHC: Possible Dreams and Transformational Ideas, a program created by Brazil’s former president, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, to leave his legacy to the Brazilian youth and inspire and train young leaders. He has also made an exchange program to Bocconi University, taking courses in the fields of Management, Economics and Business Strategy, and a summer course in Open Innovation at London School of Economics.

Before joining Mindset Ventures, Pedro worked at The Economist Intelligence Unit where he was involved in the research for the annual Competitiveness Ranking of the Brazilian States, which seeks to guide the performance of Brazilian public leaders in improving the competitiveness of their states. Aside from Mindset Ventures, Pedro also served as a volunteer at an NGO called Crea +, providing teaching support to public schools in São Paulo. He also took Computer Programming courses and has been applying his new skills to develop internal projects for the firm.

Rafael Dayan

Analyst

Rafael Dayan is an Analyst at Mindset Ventures. Since he joined the firm in 2019, he is part of the investment team and responsible for portfolio management.
Rafael has always been very passionate about the technology industry, having spent a year in Israel, where he took a leadership training program at the Jewish Agency for Israel and worked at a Tel-Aviv retailtech startup, being part of the sales team. Before joining Mindset Ventures, he also worked at LinkedIn in Customer Success Management, making the implementation and after-sales process for global customers.
Rafael holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from FGV-EAESP (São Paulo, Brazil) and a specialization in Entrepreneurship from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. In his spare time, Rafael served as a volunteer at the junior enterprise from FGV-EAESP and participated in youth movements in São Paulo, Brazil.

Altair Assumpção

Board Member

Altair Assumpção is a senior executive from the financial market with more than 35 years of experience and a successful career, having worked as a Director at Banco Real and Santander. He was a pioneer in the integration of sustainability in this industry, adding value to bank customers and creating new business models.

He is the co-founder of Sustainable Hub, a company dedicated to advise sustainable businesses on innovation. He was President of New Ventures Brazil, a non-profit initiative focused on entrepreneurship and innovation for sustainability, where he also served as a member of Steering Committee of Social Enterprise Platform Action Hub, an initiative of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. He also served as director of the Brazilian Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS), and was the godfather of the Human Diversity Committee led by Banco Real.

Altair is currently a Board Member of TECVERDE Company, an Endeavor Mentor, advisor at Ágora Tech Park and a visiting Professor of the MBA course on Creative Entrepreneurship in the University of Cordoba in Argentina.

Marco Flavio Cardoso

Board Member

Marco Flavio is an executive entrepreneur with a proven track record in a variety of multinational companies in the high-tech, consumer packaged goods and marketing services industries. He acted as director at Nokia, being responsible for driving the company’s marketing and sales strategies.

He is the CEO and founder of VIDI, a company focused on building governance models for leading fast-moving consumer goods businesses and retailers, aiming to achieve perfect stores execution evaluation and shopper experiences in sales channels.

Marco holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), an MBA from COPPEAD, a marketing specialization at INSEAD. He also serves as a mentor at Insper University’s entrepreneurship center.

Rodrigo Menezes

Board Member

Rodrigo is founding partner at Derraik & Menezes Advogados, chairman of the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Committee of ABVCAP (Brazilian Venture Capital and Private Equity association), Board Member of the Brazilian Social Task Force and of Anjos do Brasil.

As an attorney, Rodrigo represents foreign and local VCs, Corporate Ventures, startups and entrepreneurs in several Venture Capital and impact investment deals. He is a professor in various universities in Brazil, such as Fundação Getúlio Vargas and INSPER, teaching legal aspects of Venture Capital and Private Equity investments for graduate and post-graduate programs. He is also a panelist in several conferences and seminars regarding legal aspects of Venture Capital and Private Equity investments from distinct schools and associations in Brazil and Internationally.

He is author and contributor of several articles, including the Guide – Venture Capital Chapter for Brazil, published by Practical Law Company (the “PLC Handbook”).  Rodrigo holds a master’s in law from IE – Madrid and attended the Venture Capital Executive Program at Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.

Claudia Sender Ramirez

Board Member

Claudia Sender is Board Member in several listed companies and NGOs, such as Telefonica in Spain, LafargeHolcim in Switzerland, and Gerdau and Yduqs in Brazil. She also serves at the non-profit Boards of Amigos do Bem, Gastromotiva and Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. Prior to taking her Board positions, Claudia worked as a Senior Vice President for Clients at LATAM Airlines Group until July 2019. Before that, she was the CEO of LATAM Airlines Brasil for 6 years. She joined TAM Airlines in December 2011 as Comercial and Marketing Vice President and in June 2012, once the association between LAN and TAM happened, she became responsible for the Brazil Domestic Business Unit.
Sender has also worked for 7 years in the Consumer Goods industry, focusing on Marketing and Strategic Planning. Prior to joining LATAM, she was the Marketing Vice President at Whirlpool Latin America, where she worked for seven years. Sender has also worked as a consultant at Bain&Company, in projects ranging from telecom to airlines.
Claudia holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechninc School in the University of São Paulo and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School.

Alex Villela

Board Member

Alexandre Villela is a Managing Director at Qualcomm Ventures and oversees investments in Latin America. Alex also focuses on 5G, Digital Enterprise, Infra and Communication sector deals in the U.S.
Alex has 25+ years of experience in principal investing (Private Equity & Venture Capital) and business management, having been deeply involved with the challenges of high-growth emerging companies in the U.S. and LatAm as a senior investment officer or business director. Prior to Qualcomm Ventures, he was an investment director at Intel Capital, responsible for global equity investments in Networking & Communications in the Data Center group, based in Santa Clara. At the same company, he also managed investments across Latin America for several years.
Before Intel Capital, Alex worked for Stratus Investimentos, a middle-market focused Private Equity firm based in Brazil, and was a General Manager for Procurement and Product Development at Gradiente Eletrônica.
Some of his deals include Affirmed Networks (U.S., acquired by MSFT for $1.35B), Cloudgenix (US, acquired by Palo Alto Networks for $420M), Nyansa (U.S., acquired by VM-Ware for $95M), Big Switch Networks (U.S., acquired by Arista Networks), Pixeon (Brazil), Mandic (Brazil) and Technisys (Argentina).
Alex holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from UNICAMP and has earned his MBA from INSEAD.

Jay Samit

U.S. Advisory Board

Jay Samit is a dynamic entrepreneur who is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on disruption and innovation. In the past, Jay helped grow companies such as LinkedIn and eBay through their initial years. He also had senior management roles at Sony and Universal Studios, pioneering adoptions of mobile video, internet advertising, ecommerce, social networks, ebooks, and digital music.
Jay is the former CEO of SocialVibe, a digital advertising technology company that was acquired by 21st Century Fox for $200 million. He serves as a vice chairman at Deloitte, focusing on providing exponential technologies such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Blockchain and Machine Learning solutions for corporate and public sector clients.
Jay was the CEO of SeaChange International, a global multiscreen video-software company that enables transformative multi-screen TV services for video service providers in over 70 countries. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering and appointed to the White House initiative for education and technology by the President Bill Clinton. He is also the Author of the best-seller Disrupt You!, a book translated to eight different languages that describes the unique method Jay has used to invent new products and grow established businesses throughout his career.

Carlos Moreira Jr.

U.S. Advisory Board

Carlos is a successful entrepreneur and executive. He co-founded and developed Brazil’s first national television network and multi-media platform fully dedicated to live sports with an unprecedented engaging format, acquired by Turner Broadcasting System. During the years following the sale of the company, he led a Media Partnerships team at Twitter.
Carlos is investor at several startups, such as Peer5, IDWall, GamersClub (sold to Immortals Team), EasyCarros, Hamama and Conta Simples.
His experience also extends as an operating LP at Canary, Founder / BoD at Reaction Global, and investor at Tau Ventures. He is currently Mentor at Endeavor, consultant at Stanford Seed Program and member of Stanford Angels and Entrepreneurs.
